Christmas is a busy time, and there is often no getting out of that. If you are going to have to endure all of the Christmas crackers, screaming children (and possibly adults) and overuse of the word ‘Tis, then you might as well be prepared for it. Here I have collected everything that makes me feel festive and Christmassy in the hope that it will also have the same effect on you.
Item 1 – Films
There’s no better feeling than watching a Christmas film you haven’t ruined by watching it in summer. But seriously watch every one of these.
Nativity 1 & 2 (I’ve never really digged the third one but I kind of feel obliged to watch it)
Home Alone (This year was the first year I saw this film and I honestly don’t know why it took me so long)
White Christmas (I only watch this for the dancing scene. You know the one.)
The Flight Before Christmas (all the feels. Every single one.)
A Princess For Christmas (my girl @thetaleofatortoise knows)
Christmas specials (they’re just so much better when you watch them at Christmas)
Item 2 – Songs
It’s not Christmas without some classic and modern tunes (I was only going to choose three but that proved to be impossible).
One More Sleep – Leona Lewis
Merry Xmas Everybody – Slade
All I Want For Christmas Is You – Mariah Carey
I’ll Be Home – Meghan Trainor
Cold December Night – Michael Bublé
Mary Did You Know? – Pentatonix
Item 3 – Jokes
It’s not Christmas without a few painfully awful jokes, so here’s a few more to add to your repertoire:
1. Q) Why did the chewing gum cross the road?
A) Because it got stuck to the chicken
2. Q) Where do dressmakers live?
A) On the outskirts (This joke is so old and has nothing to do with Christmas but someone gets it in their cracker every year so we’ll roll with it)
3. Q) Why did the turkey cross the road?
A) To prove he wasn’t a chicken
4. Q) What did Adam say on the day before Christmas?
A) It’s Christmas Eve
That’s all I got, Merry Christmas y’all.
